Cost Basis

The original price of the position and used to determine capital gains. This value usually includes all purchase fees and is calculated as:

Cost of Purchase (including all fees) + Dollar Amount of Reinvested Shares – Cost of Any Shares Sold

This value includes reinvested dividends, but does not include earnings.
