Maximum Short Term Gain Setting

This setting allows you to set a maximum amount of short-terms gains in the account. This option is only available if you've selected Yes for the Allow Short Term Gains setting.

You can specify your maximum short-term gain amount using the following available options:

Select to tell Tamarac Trading that any amount of short-term gain is acceptable.

Select to set the maximum amount you'd allow in short-term gains on a lot-level basis. Specify the following: 

  • The % or $ list allows you to specify whether you'd like your maximum short-term gain to be a dollar amount or a % of account value amount.

  • Type the amount of gain you'd like to allow in the account.

The Only warn if short term gain exceeds the maximum specified or matures within the restriction boundary check box affects how Tamarac Trading warns you about short-term gains.

The following changes occur when you either select or clear this option:

Tamarac Trading will warn you if a recommended sell position meets one of these criteria: 

  • The sell is maturing from a short-term gain to a long-term gain within the specified number of days entered in the ST Gain Restriction Boundary box, or

  • The short-term gain will be greater than the Maximum Short Term Gain amount you've specified.

Cleared
  • Tamarac Trading can prevent the short-term gain from occurring if the ST Gain Restriction Boundary is violated on a lot-level basis.

  • Tamarac Trading will warn you if a trade violates either Maximum Short Term Gain or the Short Term Gain Restriction Boundary settings.
