Short Name

This setting allows you to enter a descriptive name or other text to help you identify accounts and groups. It allows you to include a shorter name that displays in a more friendly way.

For example, if your normal account naming structure is Last Name - Account Type, First Name, you could end up with a long account name: Jacobson, Schwab 529 FBO Benjamin, Rebecca. In the Short Name field, you might simply enter Ben Jacobson 529.

Short Name entries appear in the following places: 

• Available as a column on the Accounts page. In addition, when searching on the Accounts page, Short Name values will appear in your results.

  
  

• Short Name appears on many reports.

• You can choose to use Short Name in the automatically generated PDF report file name. Since the field is open, you can use this to create PDF file names that adhere to your firm naming conventions.
