Introduction
Alternative investments are a diverse array of holdings that come into Tamarac through a variety of methods, from uploaded manual security snapshots to custodian data feeds to snapshot-based data feeds. Accounts allow you to track snapshot-based funds.
This page provides more details about how you see on alternative investment holdings in Tamarac Reporting financial accounts.
For more information, see Introduction to alternative investments.
For more information about manual security snapshots, see Manual Securities and Manual Security Snapshots.
Manually maintained funds
You can track alternative holdings in Tamarac by creating and maintaining manual security snapshots directly on the platform, either individually or with bulk uploads. Track the fund for each account under the account's Committed Capital panel.
Each time fund details change, you update the manual security with a new snapshot to keep data current.
For more information about manually tracking committed capital funds, see Committed Capital Securities.
Data feed-based funds
If you use snapshot-based data feeds directly from an alternative investment provider, Tamarac automatically creates and maintains manual security snapshots for you. These feeds capture details like pledged amounts, contributions, distributions, and valuation updates, which refresh automatically daily. This reduces the need for manual updates.

Notes
If the client holds a subscription based fund, it is booked as a contribution snapshot.
If the fund isn’t custodied, a manual account is created to track the investment, and the data is mapped to the appropriate fields.
