Introduction
Alternative investments like private equity, hedge funds, and private credit are an important part of many client portfolios. Tamarac Reporting helps you track, monitor, and report on these investments alongside your other assets, so you can deliver a more complete view of your clients’ financial picture.
You can bring alternative investment data into Tamarac Reporting in the following ways:
-
Custodian data feeds. Some custodian data feeds include alternative holdings if they're part of the custodial account. When available, those holdings appear alongside more conventional holdings in the account. The custodian data feed determines accuracy and completeness of the data.
-
Manual data maintenance.Create and maintain manual security snapshots to track valuation and relevant activity for the fund using committed capital. When the details change, you update each snapshot, either individually or in bulk with an upload.
-
Automated alternative investment data feeds. If appropriate for your firm, you can set up data feeds directly from our alternative investment partners. Once configured, these data feeds automatically create and update manual security snapshots in the appropriate account, reducing manual maintenance.
You can include this fund data in your standard reporting packages, run the Committed Capital report for relevant securities, and explore further with bulk reports and custom views.

Set up a snapshot-based data feed
You can bring data into the Tamarac platform is through direct snapshot-based data feeds from alternative investment providers. These feeds provide more accurate data through daily syncs. If you choose to leverage snapshot-based data feeds, the data from your clients' alternative investments flows into the appropriate account in Tamarac Reporting as automatically created and updated manual security snapshots.
These snapshots appear on the Manual Security Snapshot page and anywhere manual security snapshots are used in Tamarac Reporting.
To get started, see Workflow: Set up data feed for alternative investments in Tamarac.
Security tracking
When custodian feeds add new securities, they receive unique identifiers (CUSIPs). Manual security snapshots, whether uploaded directly or created through automa, are tracked with their own security details.
