Equity Per Trade Commission Setting
This setting allows you to add a commission charge to trades on a per-trade basis, as well as specify a maximum number of shares, if any.
You can use this setting for accounts in which you charge a commission on a per-trade basis. Entering 8 in Dollars means that an $8 commission will be charged per trade. If you set a Max Shares value, this is the maximum number of shares that will apply for a single trade commission.
You currently have a client's Equity Per Trade Commission set to 5 Dollars with a Max Shares value of 1,000 shares. The client's Equity Per Share Commission is set to $0.01.
Today, you are going to complete a trade of 2,500 shares in the client's account, which exceeds the Max Shares value. The Equity Per Trade Commission will be calculated in the following way:
Shares Commission Charged Shares 1 - 1,000
Equity Per Trade Commission: $5
Equity Per Share Commission: N/AShares 1,001 - 2,000
Equity Per Share Commission: ($0.01 × 1,000) = $10
Shares 2,001 - 2,500
Equity Per Share Commission: ($0.01 × 500) = $5
Total Commission $20
If you need to update the Equity Per Trade Commission for a few accounts at a time, you can quickly update these settings on the Account Settings page. However, if your custodian has changed its commission amounts recently, you can update Equity Per Trade Commission in bulk using the Account Information upload data set.
