Separately Managed Account Setting (Trading)
These account settings allows you to designate the account as a separately managed account, also known as an SMA. Separately managed accounts are often accounts managed by external investment managers.
In Tamarac Trading, separately managed accounts roll up all underlying positions in that account to a dummy ticker for family allocation. You can find these account settings on the Rebalancing tab by choosing Account Configuration.
You can enter the following information:
Separately Managed Account. Select this check box to make the account an SMA.
Symbol. Enter a dummy ticker that will represent the SMA in group allocations.
Do not use $$$ as an SMA ticker.
% Allocation. Enter the percentage of allocation that will be represented by this ticker.
To add allocations, click + and define the Symbol and % Allocation.
Tamarac Trading will recommend trades for the account unless you place the Restrict All Securities restriction in the account or you place the SMA security ticker itself—for example, the dummy ticker DUMMY—on hold.
Do not add a cash reserve to an SMA because Tamarac Trading will look to raise cash and all cash holdings will be counted towards the dummy ticker rather than any cash reserves you've set.
You have the option to ignore SMAs during the reconciliation process. For more information, see Reconciliation Settings.
SMAs are considered Non Fee Securities when setting Minimum Trade Sizes settings and Minimum Holding Sizes settings.
For more information on creating and using SMAs in Tamarac Trading, see Separately Managed Accounts.
