See Benchmarks Across Holdings Gaps

Tamarac Reporting allows you to compare the performance of your groups, accounts, categories, and securities with one or more appropriate benchmarks. These benchmarks provide context for your performance returns. You must have the enhanced performance calculation enabled to use this feature. For more information, please contact your dedicated Service Team.

There may be instances where you purchase a security, sell out of it, and then buy back into it again at a later date. As a result, on performance reports, you'll see a holdings gap for the period when the account did not hold the security.

For periods with holdings gaps, Tamarac continues to display the benchmark returns across the holdings gap when you use the enhanced calculation. The benchmark—which has real return data for the entire duration of the holdings gap—serves as a proxy for a passive buy-and-hold strategy, while your actual returns represent your strategic trading performance.
