Include Intra-Group Flows
Applies to: | ||
---|---|---|
✔ Dynamic | ✔ Client Portal |
This setting allows you to include or exclude intra-group flows.
If Include intra-group flows is selected, then intra-group flows in and intra-group flows out will be treated as inflows and outflows, respectively.
If Include intra-group flows is setting is cleared, then intra-group flows in and intra-group flows out will be removed from inflows and outflows. If there is an issue with the data, you may notice intra-group flows in and out do not equal zero, which is a sign to review flows.
If intra-group flow management is not turned on for your firm, then it behaves as if this setting is turned on and there is no special treatment.
Depending on your firm's settings, you may control intra-group flows manually or they may be matched automatically. See Intra-Group Flows for more information.
This setting clears account activity that might be extraneous. Include intra-group flows lets you can view only new investments and money withdrawn, not assets transferred between accounts within a group.
In this short video, you'll learn about how to use Include intra-group flows to keep the Summary report clean.
For example, if a contribution was made from a client's taxable account into their Roth IRA, you would see the following on the transactions report:
In this example, the Include intra-group flows option would behave in the following manner.
To exclude intra-group flows, clear the Include intra-group flows check box. When you clear this check box, on the Summary report, the following columns become available:
Intra-Group Flows In: When the Include intra-group flows check box is cleared, this row reflects intra-group flow deposits, receipts, and management fees/deposit matches, as appropriate.
Intra-Group Flows Out: When the Include intra-group flows check box is cleared, this row reflects intra-group flow withdrawals and transfers, as appropriate.
To include intra-group flows, select the Include intra-group flows check box.
Functionality is the same in the PDF report templates as in dynamic reports.
An intra-group flow is recognized if the total group outflows match total group inflows for withdrawals and contributions. This setting allows you to include or exclude intra-group flows for client portal reports.
