How Base Date Periods On Works

The Performance History report allows you to calculate returns based on the year end designated in the account or group settings. This setting allows you to designate what year-end date is used for those calculations in the event that an account has a different fiscal year end from the rest of the group.

Example: Calendar Year vs. Fiscal Year

An advisor manages a group for a client in which one account is an SMA managed externally. As a result, the accounts in the group managed by the advisor have one fiscal year-end, while that one account has a different fiscal year-end.

When the firm runs a Performance History report for this group, they encounter the following situation:

The configuration of the Use fiscal year end for the Performance History report check box at the account and group level determines what dates the report displays for the account. The following table shows what year-end dates the advisor will see for the account in each possible configuration scenario.
