Trades on Hold
You can place trades on hold in Tamarac Trading, allowing you to save the details of the trade for later execution. This allows you to save trade details overnight, whereas trades not placed on hold will not be saved until the next day.
In some cases, this can be an important part of the trading workflow because it allows you to review and approve trades in the future.
Once you place trades on hold, the held trades will remain on the Trades on Hold page until you apply, edit, or delete the trades.
Placing trades on hold is useful for scenarios like these:
Trades in non-discretionary accounts where verification is needed before trading.
Trades generated after hours so that they can be traded the next day.
Trades involving securities with T+1 settlement issues where you need to hold buys because you have T+1 cash.
For details about how to use the Trades on Hold page, see Trades on Hold Page Actions, Views, and Filters.
When taking trades off hold for execution, verify available cash in the account or group, as well as the most recent price of the security. Account balances and security pricing can change between the time you place a trade on hold and the time you're ready to execute the trade. Trade details—for example, number of shares or % of account—won't update to reflect these changes.
Forgetting that there are trades on hold can create issues because having trades on hold will prevent a successful rebalance in an account. Create saved searches using the Trades on Hold filter to find all accounts with trades on hold or the Trades on Hold Target Date filter to find accounts with trades on hold within a date range you specify.
You can then add these saved searches to your Dashboard.
When you're ready to place one or more trades on hold, see the following pages for steps and details:
The Trades on Hold page offers filters and columns that help you find what you need and take action efficiently. For information on features of the Trades on Hold page, see Trades on Hold Page Actions, Views, and Filters.
