Creating and Modifying Groups: The Account Group Settings Panel
The Account Settings panel allows you to configure the basic settings for a group. This includes settings like account type, closed date, and inception dates.
This panel is accessed from the Settings tab when you edit a group on the Accounts page.
For more information on editing groups, visit Creating and Modifying Groups.
See below for descriptions of each of the settings on the page.
Type an account number for the group, if desired. You can search by this number on the Accounts page.
For more information, see Account Number Setting.
The type of group, if applicable. For groups created for reporting purposes, the most common entry is Reporting Group.
For more information, see Account Type.
This setting allows you to choose the date the group was closed.
For more information, see Closed Date (Accounts).
This option allows you to create a group for rebalancing within the group listed. The Allow Rebalancing option must be selected before you can add members to a group for rebalancing purposes.
For more information, see Allow Rebalancing.
The performance inception date tells Tamarac Reporting when to begin calculating performance for the group for reporting. Before you can calculate intervals to run performance reports, you must give each portfolio a performance inception date.
For more information, see Performance Inception Date.
This setting allows you to add objectives such as aggressive or conservative to an account or group. You can use objectives to track and report clients' strategies or risk tolerances. As client needs change, objectives may also. This is why all previous objectives can be tracked.
Click Add Objective to add a new objective to an account or group. You can then establish the following settings for the new account objective:
ObjectiveSelect the desired objective from the list. If the objective doesn't exist yet, type the new objective and it will be saved for future use in other accounts.
Start DateEnter the start date for the objective. You can enter any start date you wish.
Use inception dateSelect if you'd like Tamarac Reporting to set the start date of the objective to the inception date. If selected, you do not need to enter a Start Date.
Insert into existing objective history based on the start dateSelect this option to insert the selected objective into the account's comparison history based on the start date. If you set the objective to today's date, the change will be reflected on the next day.
Replace objective history based on the start dateSelect this option to replace all objectives associated with the selected account from the start date.
For example, Advisor Kelly has an account with the following objective history:
Kelly realizes that there was a period starting on 1/1/2009 where the account actually had a Moderately Aggressive objective before it changed to Aggressive on 1/1/2011.
Selecting the Insert into existing objective history based on the start date check box inserts the Moderately Aggressive objective into the objective history starting at the start date entered for the Moderately Aggressive objective and ending at the start date for the Aggressive objective.
Selecting the Replace objective history based on the start date check box inserts Moderately Aggressive into the objective starting at the start date entered and extends it to the present, overwriting the Aggressive objective.
Service Teams have primarily replaced this feature. For new groups, assign Primary Advisor in the service team.
For information about the legacy Advisors setting, see Advisors and Primary Advisor.
