Identify Accounts or Groups to Invoice Together

When it's time to generate billing invoices, may firms ask: How do I find the accounts or reporting groups I want to bill?

Tamarac offers three main ways to identify accounts or reporting groups you want to bill at the same time: account sets, saved searches, and default templates.

Account Sets

Manually create an account set that includes all the accounts you want to run invoices for at the same time. When it's time to generate invoices, filter the Accounts page to see only the accounts or groups in that account set.

Pros: Avoid PDF report errors by only generating invoices for select groups and have direct control over the list of accounts or groups billed.

Cons: Maintaining account sets can be cumbersome, since you have to continually add new accounts or groups to the set.

Saved Searches

Create a saved search that identifies accounts with the same billing cycle. When it's time to generate invoices, filter the Accounts page to see only the accounts or groups in that saved search. For example, a saved search could identify all the groups with the Monthly Billing default template set.

Pros: Saved searches dynamically find accounts or groups that meet the search criteria, so if you configure new accounts and groups correctly, they will automatically appear in the list.

Cons: You have to maintain accounts and groups to meet the saved search terms, and incorrectly configured accounts or groups can be missed when generating invoices.

Default Templates

Strategically assign default templates to generate invoices only for the groups you want to invoice together. When it's time to generate invoices, run the PDF report for all the groups in the firm and only generate invoices for the ones with the selected default template assigned.

Pros: No need to maintain saved searches or account sets to find groups when generating invoices.

Cons: Generates many errors on the PDF Report Status page, which must be reviewed carefully to identify true errors that need to be resolved.
